1. Great lessons! You should try adding the Common Core State Standards that are associated with each lesson so they will be easier for people to find and use.

Thanks for the positive feedback and the suggestion! I’ll get on that soon.

Awesome! I love your thinking and approach!!! Will be using!!!!

1. Thanks Tiffani! Let me know if you have ideas for improvement.

Dane! This is amazing! I will be using this extensively with my secondary teacher candidates. Wish I had the site when I was in the middle school classroom. Well done!

Only improvement that I see needed is the CCMS…however, the way you have the lessons titled, one can figure that out easily.

1. Donna,

Thank you for the high praise! I really appreciate it. I hope to eventually tag all the posts with the CCMS. My state’s standards are changing this year so it’s probably a good time to work on this! Thanks for the feedback.

I wish there were more 8th grade three acts available! These are great!

1. Thanks for the kind words, Tara! I haven’t looked closely at 8th grade standards, but some of my 3 acts may be able to fit in well (I’ve seen others use tasks in middle school that I use with my high school students).

Have you checked out the 3 acts from the following people (click the names for links to their work)? I think there are some 8th grade level tasks there.

Also, click here for a link to Geoff Krall’s 8th grade Common Core problem-based curriculum map. A lot of great stuff there even though it’s not all 3 act math.

Hope that helps!

5. I loved this and use multiple 3 act tasks with my 9th graders for writing linear equations. My students have sharp eyes though, and caught the 230 calories on the front of the bag shown in Act 1. So I changed up and had them pretend it was this 48 ounce bag with 1350 M&Ms.

1. Thank you for the kind words and making me aware of the visible calories! I went ahead and made an edit to the video to blank the calories out. It should be good to go now. Thanks for the heads up and let me know if you find other areas for improvement!

P.S. I really like the way you did the lesson!

Hi Dan,
I appreciate all your resources and time you have put into your work. I was fortunate to attend your session at the NCTM conference in San Francisco (the one where Dan Meyer sat in your session). We are currently working on identifying 3-ACT math tasks by domain/standard for K-8. I was wondering if you know where I can find some 6th SP– 3 Act math tasks or if you have developed any? Thank you! -Hilda

1. Hilda,

Thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate you attending the session as well!

After looking at the standard you mentioned, there aren’t any 3 Act tasks that immediately come to mind. However, I did a little looking and found some possible resources.

I hope those are helpful. Thanks for contacting me!

I LOVE your videos! What program(s) do you use to create them?

I love your website – I am hoping to incorporate more tasks and SBG in my class this year. Your stuff is really great!

1. Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it! I’m glad the site has been useful. Let me know if you have questions or ideas for improvement!
